Minutewomen Track and Field Has Busy Week at UMass Multi-Meet, Friar Invitational and Julie LaFreniere Commonwealth Invitational

AMHERST, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts women's track and field team had a busy weekend competing in the UMass Multi-Meet on Wednesday, April 9 and Thursday, April 10 in Amherst, followed by the Friar Invitational in Providence on Friday, April 11, rounded out at home in Amherst on Sunday, April 13 at the Julie LaFreniere Commonwealth Invitational.

Massachusetts returns to action next weekend to compete at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga. on April 18-19 and the Holy Cross Invite in Worcester, Mass. on April 19.
Highlights from Competition:
UMass Multi-Meet
- The lone competitor for the Minutewomen, Tesaira Williams secured the gold medal in the women's heptathlon. Williams placed first in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.76, as well as the high jump, clearing 5'5.25. She took second in the shot put and 200m dash with a throw of 37'10.25" and time of 26.41, along with a third-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 16'10". Williams rounded out her day with a top-10 finish (9th) in the 800m run, crossing the finish line in 2:38.03, and the 13th-best throw in the javelin at 71'10".
Track
- Simone Harrison claimed gold in the women's open 800m run, crossing the finish line in 2:16.50. Lara Mannes Diaz de Cerio finished closely behind, securing bronze in 2:16.89.
- Agnes Thundal (11th) and Alex Constantino (12th) placed back-to-back in the women's invitational 800m run, finishing in 2:13.98 and 2:14.21.
Julie LaFreniere Commonwealth Invitational
Field
- Courtney Rowland secured gold in the womens high jump, clearing 5'6.50".
- Megan Frazee claimed gold in the women's pole vault clearing 12'6.50". Chloe Taylor earned bronze, also clearing 12'6.50", with Maia Perillo taking seventh with a height of 12'0.50".
- Bridget Lee earned gold in the women's long jump with a distance of 19'1.50". Grace Hanafin secured bronze with a leap of 18'9.50", with Jordan Lafave securing a tie for sixth with a jump of 18'0.25."
- Ruth Michel claimed bronze in the women's triple jump, hop-skip-jumping a 38'1.50". Shakira Cadet finished just behind, taking fourth with a leap of 37'10". Gabrielle Bilong recorded the seventh-best jump at 37'2.75".
- Natalie Krysta (9th) and Eve Segal (10th) rounded out the top-10 in the women's shot put with throws of 40'8.50" and 39'11.25".
- Evalysse Pierce placed seventh in the women's javelin with a toss of 116'0".
- Ainsley Wiesner had the fifth-best throw in the women's hammer with a distance of 168'1". Jaliyah Burns rounded out the top-10 with a throw of 151'3".
Track
- Dani Allen, Jana De Raedt, Alysia Spencer and Sadai Headley-Mawasi combined to run a 47.91 in the women's 4x100m relay, good enough for silver.
- Annika Zuschlag claimed gold in the women's 3K steeplechase with a time of 10:51.03. Rylee Davis earned runner-up nods, finishing in 11:11.32.
- Six of the top-nine fastest times in the women's 1500m run belonged to the Minutewomen, with Alex Costantino (4:32.99), Agnes Thundal (4:33.45) and Rylee Shunney (4:34.76) earning the top three spots. Salma Bouhktam (4:42.63), Lara Mannes Diaz de Cerio (4:43.69) and Leann Lombardi (4:43.91) placing seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively.
- Sadai Headley-Mawasi claimed gold in the women's 400m dash finishing in 54.94.
- Jana De Raedt secured bronze in the women's 100m dash with a time of 12.30. Alysia Spencer broke into the top-10, placing ninth in 12.53.
- Jennifer Williams earned bronze in the women's 100m hurdles crossing the finish line in 14.35. Katelyn Gorgenyi (4th) and Tesaira Williams (5th) followed closely behind with times of 14.60 and 14.62, respectively.
- Alexandria Scott claimed gold in the women's 400m hurdles, finishing in 1:01.67. Lillian Kirry was close behind, taking silver with a time of 1:02.33.
- Sadai Headley-Mawasi secured gold in the women's 200m dash with a time of 24.62. Jana De Raedt (5th), Ali Murphy (6th) and Alysia Spencer (8th) broke into the top-eight with times of 25.37, 25.72 and 25.83.
- Five Minutewomen placed in the top-10 of the women's 5K, with Rylee Shunney taking the gold in 16:42.09. Ella Bosselman rounded out the podium with a time of 17:15.80. Klara Hansen (5th), Anna Todd (6th) and Anna McElhinney (9th) crossing the finish line in 17:19.94, 17:23.03 and 17:29.69, respectively.
- Ali Murphy, Lillian Kirry, Caroline Mullady and Sadai Headley-Mawasi earned bronze in the women's 4x400m relay, combining to run 3:57.99.
