Massachusetts Women’s Track and Field Have Big Weekend at Georgia Tech and Holy Cross

AMHERST, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts women's track and field team had a decorated weekend at the Georgia Tech Invite in Atlanta, Ga. on Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19, as well as the Jim Kavanagh Legacy Invitational on Saturday, April 19.

Highlights from Competition:

Georgia Tech Invitational:
  • Courtney Rowland claimed silver in the women's high jump, clearing a bar of 5'8.5". 
  • Alexandria Scott placed ninth in the women's 400m hurdles, finishing in 59.77. 
  • Sadai Headley-Mawasi had the eighth-fastest time in the women's 400m dash with a time of 54.68. 

Jim Kavanagh Legacy Invitational
  • Leann Lombardi claimed gold in the women's 2K steeplechase, finishing in 6:57.65. 
  • Katelyn Gorgenyi, Jana DeRaedt, Alysia Spencer and Faith Richardson combined to run a 47.16 in the women's 4x100m relay, good enough for bronze. 
  • The trio of Tesaira Williams, Katelyn Gogenyi and Dani Allen placed fourth, fifth and sixth respectively in the women's 110m hurdles with times of 14.57, 14.64 and 14.95. 
  • Ersa DeBruin took seventh in the women's 400m dash, crossing the finish line in 58.88. Leila Metres finished just behind, claiming eighth with a time of 58.93.
  • Faith Richardson and Alysia Spencer rounded out the top-five in the women's 100m dash, finishing in 12.31 and 12.33, respectively. 
  • Salma Boukhtam placed fifth in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:16.24. Simeone Harrison was the next to cross, doing so in 2:16.78. 
  • Jana De Raedt took eighth in the women's 200m dash with a time of 25.11. 
  • Leila Metres, Ersa DeBruin, Maia Zatorska and Naomi D'Souza claimed bronze in the women's 4x400m relay, combining to run a 4:01.91.
  • Jaliyah Burns placed fifth in the women's hammer with a toss of 163'1". 
  • Natalie Krysta claimed silver in the women's discus with a toss of 146'6". 
  • Natalie Krysta placed sixth in the women's shot put with a throw of 42'8.75". Mattie Bishop took ninth with a toss of 40'7". 
  • Elizabeth Hopkins placed eighth in the women's javelin with a toss of 106'10". 
  • Maia Perillo took silver in the women's pole vault clearing a bar of 12'1.75". Ainsley Hileman placed sixth, clearing 11'1.5". 
  • Grace Hanafin placed sixth in the women's long jump with a leap of 18'7". Jordan Lafave finished closely behind, taking seventh with a jump of 18'3". 
  • Ruth Michel placed fourth in the women's triple jump with a distance of 38'9". Gabrielle Bilong (7th) and Winnie Sekyaya (8th) finished back-to-back with hop-skip-jumps of 37'8" and 36'5.5".

Massachusetts returns to action next weekend to compete in the Penn Relays in Philadelphia on April 24-25 and the Ken O'Brien Pre-Conference Meet on April 26.
