Tennis Welcomes UConn For Midweek Match

The Minutewomen matchup against the Huskies on Wednesday, April 12, for a 2:30 p.m. match at the Mullins Tennis Courts.

AMHERST, Mass. – A midweek match brings the University of Connecticut to Amherst, as the University of Massachusetts tennis team readies for a 2:30 p.m. matchup at the Mullins Center Tennis Courts on Wednesday, April 12.
 
Last Time Out
Massachusetts got back in the win column with a 4-0 victory over Saint Joseph's.
 
The Minutewomen claimed the doubles point unanimously with victories in all three contests. The pair of Danielle Hack and Anna Napadiy defeated the Hawks' Ana Ocasio and Kirsten Wijnsema 6-0, at No. 2 doubles. Mariya Krasakova and Melisa Senli teamed up to better Anna Kirk and Stow Weiss of SJU 6-1, on court No.1. The duo of Dylan Cannon and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul closed off doubles play, nabbing a 7-6 win over the Hawks' Ireland Amato and Sophia Amato at No.3.
UMass continued its dominance, seizing wins at No. 3, No. 1 and No. 4 singles. Krasakova earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Kirk of SJU on court No. 3, before Senli bested the Hawks' Weiss 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1. On court No. 4, Napadiy triumphed over SJU's Fabiana Tort-Umpierre, claiming a 7-6, 6-1 win.
 
Scouting UConn
The Huskies currently hold a 9-9 overall record and are coming off a 5-2 road win against Butler.
 
Since October 15, 2008, the Massachusetts and UConn have met 12 times, with UMass holding an 11-1 advantage. During the October meeting, the Minutemen came out on to, 5-2, with the last meeting between the two teams occurring on April 13 of last season. UMass defeated UConn, 4-0 on the day.  
 
Weekly Awards Sweep X2
After posting a 4-0 weekend, going 2-0 in both doubles and singles play, Senli was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week on February 7, before garnering the laurel on March 1 with a 3-1 overall performance, going 1-1 in doubles and 2-0 in singles.
 
Hack earned A-10 Performer of the Week on March 1, marking the first weekly award of her career. She went 4-0 overall, including 2-0 in both doubles and singles competition.
 
The duo swept the weekly honors again on March 28, as Hack earned A-10 Performer of the Week and Senli tabbed A-10 Rookie of the Week. It marked the second weekly accolade for Hack and third for Senli.
