Last Time Out
UMass battled Syracuse in a 1-0 loss on Friday in a pitchers' duel at Sortino Field. Jessie DiPasquale struck out a career-high 11 batters in the circle for the Minutewomen, allowing just two hits, a walk and one run in seven innings of action. Freshman Bella Pantoja led the UMass offense with three hits in four trips to the plate while Amy Smith and Kristina Day each added hits of their own.
The Opponent
Rhode Island comes into tomorrow's matchup with a 2-10 overall record having played no conference games after resuming action this week following a break due to COVID-19 protocols. Ari Castillo leads the Rams' offense with a .412 average while Erica Robles has driven in a team-high eight runs on the year.
Offensive Leaders
Pantoja leads the Minutewoman offense through nine games of play with a .321 average and five runs scored while Jules Shields leads UMass with a .526 slugging percentage to go along with a .316 average. Caroline Deem has driven in a team-high five runs.
