Eagles win all six singles matches after Minutewomen sweep doubles play.

AMHERST, Mass. - A six-match singles sweep led Boston College to a 6-1 win over the UMass tennis team on Saturday afternoon at the Bay Road Tennis Center. UMass started the day strong by winning all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the day, but could not find its rhythm in singles.

The loss drops UMass to 4-3 on the year as the Minutewomen return to the courts on Sunday, Feb. 19 to host Army. Doubles play is set to being at 12:30 p.m. at the Bay Road Tennis Center.

In Saturday's match, UMass won No. 1 doubles and No. 2 doubles to earn the opening point of the day. Ruth Crawford and Anna Woosley picked up a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while Ana Yrazusta and Janja Kovacevic won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. The Minutewomen picked up the three-match sweep when Brittany Collens and Laura Moreno won 6-5 on a 7-3 tie-breaker.

The Eagles began singles play with wins at No. 2, No. 1 and No. 4 singles to go up 3-1. Boston College clinched the match win with a win at No. 5 singles.

Yrazusta fell at No. 3 singles, but only after a drawn out three-set match. The junior fell in the opening set 7-6 (6) before battling back to win the second set by a 7-6 (4) score as well. She fell in the tie-breaker set 6-3 to end the day.
