BOCA RATON, Fla. - The UMass softball team dropped their third game of the weekend to #14/13 Michigan at the FAU Kickoff Classic. The Minutewomen (0-3) fell to the Wolverines (5-2) 13-2 in four and a half innings. The Minutewomen will head to Clearwater, Fla. next weekend for the NFCA Leadoff Classic.

Sophomore Caroline Raymond recorded two strikeouts in 3.1 innings pitched. She allowed four hits and no runs in her time on the mound. Third baseman Teea Rogers hit the first homerun of the season for the Minutewomen, the third of her career, in the top of the fourth that accounted for their two runs in the game. Tiffany Meeks and Katie Bettencourt were responsible for the other two UMass hits, a single to left field and a single up the middle, respectively.

Michigan scored thirteen runs in the bottom of the first inning on nine hits and two UMass errors. With two outs, Michigan walked in a run and then hit a triple to give them a 4-0 advantage. A homerun to right center scored two more runs and two consecutive errors and a wild pitch would put the Wolverines up 9-0. Four more runs would score after Raymond took over on the mound, all unearned.

UMass didn't allow Michigan to score again in the game. The Minutewomen scored two runs in the top of the fourth but couldn't make up the run deficit in the top of the fifth and the run-rule ended the game.

Michigan ended the game with eleven hits and one error. The Minutewomen had three hits and two errors.
