Softball Earns No. 4 Seed In NCAA Tournament

AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts softball team has earned the No. 4 seed at the 2000 NCAA Regionals, which will take place from May 18-21. The Minutewomen will compete in the Tucson, Ariz., regional, which will showcase the No. 1 seed and second-ranked Arizona (53-7), the No. 2 seed and 18th-ranked Nebraska (49-19) and the No. 3 seed and 25th-ranked South Carolina (38-26). The No. 5 seed Illinois State (26-31) and the No. 6 seed Middle Tennessee State (36-19) will round out the six teams participating in the regional. The tournament will feature a double-elimination format, with UMass opening up with South Carolina at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 18.
