AMHERST, Mass. -- Massachusetts football heads to Columbia, Missouri, to face #20/19 Missouri at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, September 27, at 7 p.m. on ESPNU. 
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Massachusetts and Missouri will be meeting for the second time on Saturday, with the Tigers having travelled to Amherst, Massachusetts last season for the first game in the series. 
  • Missouri – ranked No. 21 at the time – posted a 45-3 win on Oct. 12, 2024 at McGuirk Alumni Stadium (16,102). 
  • Taisun Phommachanh started at quarterback for the Minutemen and finished 12-for-22 for 132 yards.  
  • Current defensive lineman Shambre Jackson posted his first career solo sack in that game against the Tigers.  
  • Saturday's game at Missouri will mark UMass' fourth SEC game in the last two seasons, having also played at Mississippi State and at Georgia in 2024. 

QUICKOUTS
  • Wide receiver Jacquon Gibson's 8.0 receptions per game leads the MAC and ranks fourth nationally, while his 86.00 receiving yards per game ranks second in the league (25th nationally) 
  • Running back Rocko Griffin ranks seventh in the MAC with 4.73 yards per carry average 
  • With two total sacks, Marques White is averaging 0.67 sacks per game to rank sixth in the MAC and 
  • A McNeese State and Dartmouth transfer, White also has a forced fumble this season 
  • Tyler Martin (a pick six) and DD Snyder II each had an interception against Bryant, marking the first two interception game by the Minutemen since Oct. 28, 2023, when UMass downed Army 21-14 (Juan Lua and Jeremiah McGill had the interceptions on that day) 
  • Massachusetts is one of six MAC teams with a defensive touchdown this season.  
  • Keegan Andrews' 47.44 yards per punt ranks second in the MAC and ninth nationally 
  • Against Bryant, Derek Morris' 53-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter marked the longest field goal in program history, surpassing Sandro Vitiello (vs. Boston College, 1978) and Denis Gagnon (vs. New Hampshire, 1971) who both kicked a 52-yard field goals. 
  • Prior to the Temple game, projected starting defensive end Joshua Nobles and projected primary backup left guard Zachary Franks were ruled out for the season due to injuries. Wideout T.Y. Harding competed in three games on the year, before being ruled out for the remainder of the season. 

 RODGERS MAKES NFL HISTORY
  • Former Minuteman cornerback/kick returner Isaiah Rodgers (2016-19) made history for the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday (Sept. 21) when he became the first player in NFL history with a pick six, a fumble returned for a touchdown and two forced fumbles in a single game (and he did it all in the first half) 
  • Rodgers, finished his 12-game senior season with 42 tackles, including 3.0 TFLs, four interceptions, 10 pass breakups, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery, is in his first season with the Vikings after winning the Super Bowl with the Eagles last season
