Minutewomen Ready For Split Weekend Of Competition

Tennis heads to Bryant on Saturday, challenges Fordham at home on Sunday.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis splits its competition weekend with a trip to Smithfield, Rhode Island, to face Bryant on Saturday, April 13, at 11:30 a.m., before hosting Atlantic 10 opponent Fordham at the Mullins Center Tennis Courts on Sunday, April 14, at 1 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Minutewomen went 2-0 last weekend, downing two A-10 rivals. UMass defeated Richmond, 4-1, and swept George Washington, 4-0, in Amherst.
Against Richmond, Massachusetts picked up the doubles point with a 6-2 win by Mariana Campino and Renata Farima at No. 3 doubles and a clinched 6-3 victory at No. 2 by Ella Faessler and Amelia Tye. The Minutewomen continued strong competition in singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 win from Danielle Hack at court No. 1, a 6-1, 6-2, triumph at No. 2 from Thamonpan Jonglertrakul and a three-set win of 6-0, 5-7, 6-3, at No. 3 from Faessler.
On Sunday's match against George Washington, UMass led 1-0 after notching the doubles point, thanks to Campino and Farima defeating their opponents, 6-1, at No. 3 and a 6-2 win from Faessler and Tye at No. 2 doubles. The Minutewomen picked up three straight singles wins, as Faessler completed her match first, taking down her opposition, 7-5, 6-2, at court No. 3. Jonglertrakul earned a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 2, before Campino secured the match wining point with a 6-3, 7-5 triumph at No. 4.
Scouting Bryant
The Bulldogs hold a 7-9 overall record and are 0-6 on the road. Bryant is coming off a 4-1 road loss Rhode Island.
Scouting Fordham
The Rams are 11-5 overall on the season, while holding a 4-0 conference record and an 8-5 road record. Fordham is currently on a seven-match win streak, with the most recent win over Richmond (4-1). In addition to Richmond, Fordham has defeated George Washington (5-2), Duquesne (6-1) and St. Bonaventure (6-1) in league play.
Prior to Sunday's match, the Rams will compete against St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday.
