UMass Dance Team Finishes Eighth At The NDA National Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. - The University of Massachusetts Dance team traveled to Daytona Beach, Fla., to compete in the National Dance Alliance Division IA National Championship this week, placing eighth out of 14 teams. The squad earned seventh in the preliminaries to secure a bid in the championship round.

"It's an incredible feeling dancing on the finals stage against the best teams in the country. It's an unbelievable accomplishment how far we have come," said team senior Erin Dow. "Before taking the stage, we told ourselves to come off feeling like we could not have done it better and that's what we did."

Penn State took first place with a final score of 9.615 while the University of Louisville finished second at 9.566. Virginia Tech (9.418), University of South Carolina (9.343) and Iowa State (9.312) rounded out the top-five. UMass earned a score of 8.979 in its first year at the IA Level.
