Learning Enhancement Program
An individualized education support plan that utilizes varied modes of supplemental instruction for student-athletes with barriers to learning.  Services include working with a learning specialist, as well as peer support staff called Student Learning Assistants.  The level of support will vary based on the needs of the student-athletes, but LEP support helps student-athletes develop the skill set to be an autonomous and successful student.

  • Student Learning Assistants (SLAs): A service available to all student-athletes based on their academic needs and college readiness.  This is a free service that is designed to help support student-athletes as they navigate a rigorous college curriculum while building up their academic skillset for long term academic success.
  • Content Tutoring:  A service available to all student-athletes based on their needs per semester. It is free and we encourage all student-athletes to take advantage!
  • Learning Specialist: One on one work with student-athletes using a variety of strategies to encourage students to be responsible learners, build self-esteem and a positive attitude toward learning. Work one-on-one with student-athletes to help them overcome educational difficulties and build essential skills necessary to foster independent learners. Provide support for diagnosed student-athletes in requesting accommodations from Disability Services. Assist student-athletes with organizational skills, study habits and time management. Serve as a resource to academic counselors, coaches and campus advising staff on relevant learning strategies.
