Minutemen Rally Late and Hold Yale to 2-2 Draw

AMHERST, Mass. – Massachusetts (4-2-3) rallied from a one-goal halftime deficit to earn a 2-2 draw against Ivy League opponent, Yale (0-4-2).
J.P. Mbuthia and Matt Cence each found the back of the net to lead the Minutemen in their comeback effort.

Breaking Down The Action
- Aidan Kelly nearly put the Minutemen on the board early with a fifth-minute header but Yale goalkeeper, Conrad Lee made the save.
- Yale struck first in the 17th minute, converting a penalty kick by Angelo Zhu to take a 1-0 lead.
- Massachusetts had a chance to equalize in the 31st minute, but Kelly's penalty kick attempt was unsuccessful.
- Back-to-back shot attempts by Cence and Shane Velez were denied by the Bulldogs defense before time expired in the half.
- Out of the halftime break, Mbuthia leveled the match with a header assisted by Kelly in the 49th minute.
- Off a free kick and with the help of the far goal post, Cence gave the Minutemen a 2-1 lead during the 60th minute.
- The Bulldogs tied the game in the 84th minute.
- With time counting down, Kelly's goal attempt in the 89th minute was saved by Lee securing the draw.
