Men’s Cross Country Triumphant At Season-Opening Ken O’Brien Minuteman Invitational

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's cross country claimed six of the top-eight spots to win its own Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invitational on Saturday at the UMass Cross Country Course. The Minutemen posted a team score of 21, followed by Stonehll (37) and New Haven (107).

THE UMASS TOP-FIVE
- Junior Collin Catherwood led the pack taking first overall in 18:18.66, 22 seconds ahead of his next closest competitor on the 6K course.
- Junior Erik Unger placed third out of 39 runners with a time of 18:40.92.
- Senior Liam Ouellette crossed the finish fourth overall and third for the Minutemen in 19:00.46.
- Sophomore Cyrus Hansen posted the first scoring performance in his collegiate career, placing fourth for UMass and sixth overall with a time of 19:08.21.
- Freshman Altamo Aschkenasy made his collegiate debut as UMass' fifth scorer in seventh overall (19:08.89).

- The Minutemen will be idle until Saturday, September 20, when the squad travels to Hanover, New Hampshire for the Maribel Sanchez Souther Memorial Invitational at Dartmouth. Race time is set for 10:45 a.m.
