Tennis Announces The Addition Of Defne Su Sever

Su Sever joins the Minutewomen for the 2025-26 season.
AMHERST, Mass. - Â University of Massachusetts tennis and head coach Juancarlos Nunez announced the addition of Defne Su Sever for the 2025-26 season.
Su Sever comes to Amherst from Ankara, Turkey, who held her highest Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of 8.60.
"We are very happy to have Defne (Su Sever) join our team in the fall," said Nunez. " In getting to know her, it's clear to see how hungry and motivated she is to get better and to help our team in any way she can. We are eager to be part of her journey and help her develop on and off the court."
Su Sever has competed at a high level both nationally and internationally at the Junior and ITF level. Over her career she's had three top wins over her career over opponents that held a 9.33, 8.88 and 9.41 UTR.
"A huge welcome to Defne (Su Sever) to team 50," said assistant coach Hannah McColgan. "Something we really value at UMass is having players who are passionate about tennis and excited to develop their game. Defne (Su Sever) is all about this and we can't wait for her join team 50! Go UMass!"
