Minutemen Claim Victory at NEICAAA Outdoor Championship

AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts men's track and field team claimed first place in the NEICAAA Outdoor Championships with 119.5 points. The Minutemen totaled eight medalists en route to the team victory on Saturday

Highlights from Competition:
  • Winston Lewis claimed gold in the 200m, crossing the line at 21.41.
  • Collin Catherwood emerged victorious in the men's 5K with a time of 14:31.52. Erik Unger (14:44.03) and Will Kenney (14:46.79) rounded out the top five for UMass, placing fourth and fifth respectively.
  • The Minutemen had three runners score in the 3K Steeplechase, led by Michael Norberg with a winning time of 9:04.66. Riley Cole claimed a top-five finish in 9:19.30, followed by Cyrus Hansen in seventh (9:25.35).
  • Norberg also scored a top-five finish in the 1500m, finishing fourth with a time of 3:53.02.
  • Liam Ouellette placed first in the 10K, completing his run in 30:36.79.
  • Godot Gaskins claimed victory in the 400m with a time of 47.63. Mark Sten followed shortly after, placing fourth (48.50)
  • Chamberlain Guthrie earned silver in the long jump with a distance of 23' 2 1/2".
  • Matthew Acquah reached a distance of 49'1" in the triple jump, securing silver on the day.
  • Hunter Feitel cleared a height of 14' 8 3/4" in the pole vault, good for fifth place overall.
  • Chris Scalia completed the 400m Hurdles in 54.07, earning him fifth place.
  • Aiden Donovan earned scoring placements in both the Shot Put and Discus events, finishing sixth (53' 7 3/4") and seventh (158' 7") respectively.
