The Minutewomen conclude the season with a 12-7 overall record.
ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 2-seeded University of Massachusetts tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 3 Richmond in the Atlantic 10 Semifinals match at the USTA National Campus.
UMass finished the season with a 12-7 overall record, while Richmond improved to 16-6 on the year.
Massachusetts dropped the doubles point to Richmond to start the match. Richmond's Lainey O'Neil and Claire Le Du defeated Martina Pavissich and Trinity Calinescu, 6-0, at No. 3 doubles. UMass picked up a win at court No. 1, as Mariana Campino and Belle Jonglertrakul downed Lara Bakhaya and Andrea Campodonico, 6-4. Finishing at the same time, Elizabeth Novak and Sofia Barbulescu of the Spiders were able to notch the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 2 over Ella Faessler and Amelia Tye.
Richmond grabbed the first singles point at No. 2 as Campodonico defeated Faessler, 6-1, 6-3. The Spiders went up, 3-0, on the morning after Le Du of Richmond won, 6-0, 7-5, at court No. 4. Richmond secured the match point at No. 6 singles, with Abby Lee of the Spiders defeating Calinescu, 6-2, 6-3.
The remaining matches on courts No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 went unfinished.
