Tennis Comes Away With 4-2 Victory Over Rhode Island In Regular Season Finale

The Minutewomen await their seeding for the Atlantic 10 Championships.
KINGSTON, R.I. – University of Massachusetts tennis closed out the regular season with a 4-2 triumph over Rhode Island at the URI Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon.
UMass completed the regular season with an 11-6 overall record and an unblemished 4-0 Atlantic 10 Conference record.
Massachusetts claimed the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Duo Ella Faessler and Amelia Tye downed Grace Darcy and Anastasia Petterson of URI, 7-5, at court No. 2, before partners Martina Pavissich and Trinity Calinescu defeated the Rams' Klara Nelander and Sophie Herrman, 7-5.
The Minutewomen continued momentum in singles action, picking up three more points. Belle Jonglertrakul had a 6-2, 6-1 win over URI's Herrman at court No. 3, while Clainescu claimed a 6-4, 6-3 triumph at No. 6 singles over Steph Hylton of Rhode Island. Tye claimed the match point in a three-set victory at No. 4, taking down the Rams' Darcy, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Massachusetts prepares to travel to Lake Nona, Florida, for the A-10 Championships at the USTA National Campus beginning on Thursday, April 24 through Sunday, April 27. Seeding and match times are yet.
