Diggins, Bell And Musa Earn UMass Student-Athlete Of The Week Nods

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts junior diver Andrew Bell, men's basketball senior guard Rahsool Diggins and hockey sophomore forward Jack Musa have all been selected as UMass Student-Athletes of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday. The trio will be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon this Wednesday in the Berkshire Room of the Berkshire Dining Commons beginning at noon.
This week's featured speakers at the luncheon will be men's swimming & diving head coach Sean Clark and tennis head coach J.C. Nunez.
As the UMass divers competed at the Northeastern Diving Invitational, Bell claimed the top spot on the podium in both the one-meter and three-meter dives. He totaled a 391.60 in the one-meter event, while scoring a 392.65 in the three-meter event.
Diggins continued to be a catalyst for the men's basketball program averaging 19.5 and 2.5 assists on 42.9% shooting from the field over two games last week. The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native fueled the Minutemen to a dominant 78-55 victory over La Salle, scoring 34 points on 13-of-20 shooting from the field. The senior put on a clinic from deep, going 7-of-13 from three-point range, increasing his total to 72 for the season. Diggins recorded his fourth game with 30-plus points on the season and second in his last three games.
Musa posted first collegiate hat trick last Friday to help hockey rally from a 2-0 deficit on the road at #11/10 UConn for head coach Greg Carvel's 250th career win. He scored the first two goals of the game for the Minutemen and then completed his hat trick 4:24 into the third to give UMass its first lead of the contest. The Orange Park, Florida native was +2 and scored his three goals on five shots, won 2-of-3 faceoffs he took and blocked two shots.
