Massachusetts Rowing Heads To The Atlantic 10 Championship

AMHERST, Mass. - The Massachusetts rowing team will take part in the 2024 Atlantic 10 Rowing Championship on Saturday, May 18 on the Cooper River in Pennsauken and Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

Massachusetts will be looking to earn the conference title for the first time since 2017. Last season UMass placed third in the event, which took place at Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

All told, Massachusetts has captured 16 Atlantic 10 Championships dating back to 1996.

Season Highlights

Freshman rower Elle Decatur was named the UMassFive Student-Athlete of the Week on April 8. She served as the stroke of Massachusetts' Second Varsity 8 on Saturday at the at the Saint Joseph's Invitational at Overpeck Park in Leonia, New Jersey. That boat finished in a time of 8:11.424 to place first among all three morning heats, besting Columbia, Navy, Marist, Rhode Island, George Washington, Bucknell, UConn and Saint Joseph's.
Massachusetts put together a strong performance at the 2024 Knecht Cup, with the Varsity Four earning a gold medal and the Second Varsity 8 capturing silver on the Cooper River (April 14).
Massachusetts swept Fordham at the Dartmouth Double Duals on April 20 at Lake Morey in Fairlee, Vermont.
At Eastern Sprints at Lake Quinsigamond, the Varsity Four boat won the Petite Final in the afternoon. Each Massachusetts boat earned a place in their respective Petite Finals on the day.
