Rowing Competes At Princeton Chase

Final Results

AMHERST, Mass. -- The Massachusetts rowing team took part in the Princeton Chase in Princeton, N.J. on Sunday, November 5.

Massachusetts raced three crews in the Women's Open Eight event in the morning and in the Women's Four event in the afternoon, with two crews in the afternoon featuring athletes doubling up from the morning's event.

In the eights, the 1V secured the top finish of the day for UMass by finishing 31st overall. The 2V finished 34th overall, ahead of other Atlantic 10 2V's. The UMass 3V8+ also recorded a top-40 finish, placing among A-10 second-varsity eights and ahead of all A-10 3V's.

"Coming off the Head of the Charles where the Varsity 8 had a banner day, it was really nice to see the JV and 3V fully embrace this opportunity, racing against some of the best programs in the country as well as top A-10 teams," head coach Eric Carcich said. "It takes a full squad to win the championship in May and simply stated: that is our goal. The team is ready to put in a couple more weeks of work on the water before wrapping up for Thanksgiving break. It has been a very successful fall on many fronts and we are looking forward to our spring season!"

The Princeton Chase marked the end of the fall racing season for UMass and the team will returns to campus to continue training for the spring season which begins at the end of March.
