Sheehan Gotsch joined the University of Massachusetts rowing staff as an assistant coach in July of 2022.

In her time at UMass, Gotsch coached the 2V4+ to two consecutive A-10 victories in 2024 and 2025, after spending her first year with the Minutewomen developing programming for walk-on athletes and coaching the 3V8+ in the spring. Off the water, Gotsch specializes in recruiting and coxswain development while supporting the walk-on program and general athlete development.

Prior to UMass, Gotsch was the primary coach for the 3V/4V and C4+ boats at Radcliffe and generated a training plan for the novice team that developed the fitness and technical skills of the rowers. Gotsch also spent two seasons at Endicott College working as a coach for the co-ed rowing team, including a season as the head coach in 2020-21. At Endicott, she implemented practice schedules and created commitment and communication standards while helping the team grow from 18 to 26 student-athletes.

“We are so excited and fortunate to have Sheehan join our staff,” said head coach Eric Carcich upon her hire. "Both Coach Chivers and I had the pleasure of working with Sheehan during our time at Cornell, and we know she has all the attributes we search for in our candidates.”

As a rower at Cornell, Gotsch joined the team as a walk-on in her freshman year and later earned First-Team All-Ivy and First-Team All-Ivy Academic honors in her final season in 2019. She graduated from Cornell in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Policy Administration and Management. Outside of rowing, Sheehan is also a Level One Cross Fit coach.
