Massachusetts Baseball Shut Out By Toledo, 5-0.

The Minutemen and Rockets face off on Saturday, March 7, at 1 p.m. for game two of the series.
TOLEDO, Ohio - University of Massachusetts baseball was shut out, 5-0, by Toledo on Friday afternoon at Scott Park to open Mid-American Conference action.
UMass moved to 4-3 overall on the season and 0-1 in the MAC, while Toledo improved to 4-8 overall and 1-0 in MAC play.
Ty Fox went 2-for-4 on the day. Anthony Tirado, Ryan Kolben and Vance Bonior all had one hit each. Fox added a stolen base on the afternoon.
After three scoreless innings, Toledo scored a run on a single in the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead.
The Minutemen held off the Rockets through three innings, but Toledo notched four runs in the eighth frame to extend its lead to 5-0.
UMass was unable to get the bats going in the final inning as the Rockets came away with a 5-0 win.
Callen Powers (1-1) had the loss for UMass, giving up only one run on seven hits, walking one and striking out a career-high matching seven batters in 6.1 innings of work.
Nathan Leininger (2-0) recorded the win for Toledo after allowing no runs, four hits, a walk and dealing six strikeouts in six complete innings. Hayden Frey (1) earned the save, tossing three complete innings with only one hit, no runs, no walks and two strikeouts.
Massachusetts and Toledo continue the series with game two on Saturday, March 7, at 1 p.m. at Scott Park.
