Minutewomen Cap Regular Season With Dominant 26-4 Win Over George Mason

AMHERST, Mass. -- Massachusetts women's lacrosse (13-3, 10-0 A-10) secured its 11th consecutive victory, defeating George Mason (7-10, 2-8) 26-4 on Saturday afternoon at Garber Field. With the win, the Minutewomen clinched their seventh consecutive season with an undefeated record in Atlantic 10 play. The offensive display marks the most goals scored by a Massachusetts team since defeating St. Bonaventure 27-2 on April 23, 2021.

The Minutewomen allowed their fewest goal total of season, ceding just one in each quarter of play. Massachusetts dominated in all facets, holding significant advantages in shots (40-9), shots on goal (34-5), draw controls (25-6) and caused turnovers (11-5).

Kassidy Morris led the way for the Minutewomen offensively, totaling eight points on five goals and three assists. The Washago, Ontario native set the program single-season goal record, passing Kiley Anderson and Sam Rush with her 68th of the season. Morris currently leads the A-10 while ranking top-5 in the NCAA with 70 goals on the season.

Tessa Shields also stuffed the stat sheet, recording seven points on four goals and three assists. Ava Connaughton continued to be a catalyst from the x-position, finishing the afternoon with six points on three goals and three assists.

Delaney Rodriguez-Shaw made it four Minutewomen with three or more goals on the day, scoring four goals to go along with two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

The Patriots were led by Kate Anders who scored two goals on four shots.

George Mason opened the scoring as Giselle Torain gave the Patriots an early 1-0 advantage two minutes into the action.
The Minutewomen leveled the score at 1-1 thanks to a free position goal from Kassidy Morris with 9:49 on the clock.
Massachusetts ended the first quarter on a 7-0 scoring run, powered by two goals apiece from Ava Connaughton and Delaney Rodriguez-Shaw.
Kassidy Morris completed a first half hat trick, scoring her 68th goal of the season with 5:43 left in the second quarter, breaking the single season program record.
The Minutewomen extended their scoring run to 13 goals unanswered over 21 minutes of play, holding a 13-1 advantage with 5:31 remaining in the first half.
Lil Hancock scored a woman-up goal to end the second quarter, sending the Minutewomen into the break with a 14-2 lead.

Five different Minutewomen scored in the fourth quarter as UMass outscored George Mason 6-1 in the final period to clinch a 26-4 win at Garber Field.
