UMass Games To Air On CBS 3 Now

AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Athletic Department is excited to announce that for the second straight year the UMass Sports Network will air live game broadcasts on CBS 3 Now. Beginning on October 7th, CBS 3 Now will show games for all UMass teams ranging from football, basketball and hockey to soccer, field hockey, softball, and lacrosse. This year, upgrades have been made to the video transmission method to improve video and audio quality. CBS 3 Now can be seen on Comcast Cable channel 293 and Charter channel 230 in Western Massachusetts, in addition to campus cable channel 79.
The games broadcast on CBS 3 Now will not conflict with UMass' existing television agreements such as CAA Football with Comcast SportsNet, the Atlantic 10 with CBS College Sports and ESPN, and Hockey East with NESN.
"We've been spending a lot of time and energy improving upon the television product we started with last year," said Josh Maurer, Assistant Athletic Director for Broadcasting. "I think fans who watch the games on CBS 3 Now will enjoy the upgrades in production and transmission quality. We're happy to continue providing this service to UMass fans in the Pioneer Valley."
The broadcasts will be produced and directed through the newly-created UMass Athletic Video Department and will be simulcast on the Internet through the CBS College Sports All-Access player. UMass will be employing multiple cameras, graphics and replays for these broadcasts. The first broadcast will be a men's soccer game this Friday, Oct. 7 at 3:30 p.m. against Charlotte. UMass hockey will start on CBS 3 Now with the Oct. 14 home opener vs. Bentley. All women's basketball home games will air beginning this November.
