Whipple to Throw First Pitch at Fenway Park Sunday

Football head coach Mark Whipple will toss out ceremonial first pitch before 1:05 p.m. Red Sox game

AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts football head coach Mark Whipple will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Sunday's 1:05 p.m. Red Sox game against the New York Yankees at Fenway Park. Whipple will be joined by Brown University head coach Phil Estes and Connecticut head coach Randy Edsall, who will also toss ceremonial first pitches.

All three programs are participating in the 2017 Fenway Gridiron Series, during which UMass will host Maine at Fenway Park on Sat., Nov. 11. Brown takes on Dartmouth at the iconic ballpark on Fri., Nov. 10 while Boston College hosts Connecticut on Sat., Nov. 18.

Whipple will spend the afternoon at Fenway Park, which will begin with a 12:20 p.m. NESN pregame show interview live on Yawkey Way. Following the first pitch, Whipple will head to the stands to cheer on the Red Sox. He will also featured on the WEEI broadcast during the contest.

Tickets for the five games at McGuirk Alumni Stadium are available now as well. Fans interested in single game tickets for any contest this season are encouraged to buy early, as there will be no ticket-related processing or convenience fees with the purchase of single game tickets through Aug. 25 and will be $20 when purchased ahead of time and $25 on the day of the game.

New this season, all vehicles being parked in lots 22, 33 and 14 (RV/buses only), the South Stadium Loop and the ADA lot will require a parking pass. They are available for $5 ahead of the game and $10 (cash-only) if bought within six hours of kickoff. Season ticket holders receive one complimentary parking pass per four season tickets purchased.
