McCall-Led Team Maroon Stops Team White, 17-13

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts football welcomed guest coaches Chris Berman of ESPN for Team White and men's basketball's Matt McCall for Team Maroon in Thursday's annual spring game. Maroon defeated White, 17-13.
Team Maroon struck first when quarterback Andrew Ford hit receiver Brennon Dingle for a 21-yard touchdown pass. Running back Nick Orekoya punched in a one-yard score to put his team up 14-0.
Running back Marquis Young put Team White on the board with his 11-yard scoring run. Michael Schreiner connected on a 42-yard field goal to give Team Maroon a 17-7 lead. Safety Jesse Monteiro returned an interception for 85 yards and the score to cut Maroon's lead, 17-13.
Safety Cycoby Burch paced Team Maroon's defensive efforts with two interceptions, four tackles and one pass broken up. Linebacker Colbert Calhoun also chipped in with four tackles, including a tackle for a loss of three yards.
Defensive lineman Joe Previte collected three tackles, include two for a loss of nine yards, to lead Team White. Linebackers Steve Casali and Micah Morel each had five stops, including one for loss.
Young ended the night with 13 carries for 93 yards and three receptions for eight yards. Dingle hauled in eight receptions for 109 yards with two carries for seven yards.
Ford played series with each team, totaling four completions on six attempts for 80 yards. Randall West finished for Team Maroon, completing 13-of-22 for 79 yards. Michael Curtis finished for Team White, throwing for 14 yards on 4-of-10 passing.
2017 season ticket sales are underway. An adult season ticket is available for $140 and includes five games at McGuirk Alumni Stadium and Maine vs. UMass at Fenway Park. Season ticket holders also receive first right to additional ticket sales for at Fenway Park, the Minutemen's first-ever contest at America's Most Beloved Ballpark. A season ticket for faculty/staff, youth and young alumni is available for $130 with the same benefits.
