UMass hosts basketball hall of fame showcase; variety of home competition Friday, Saturday and Sunday
AMHERST, Mass. ā University of Massachusetts Athletics hosts a multitude of events in conjunction with 2017 Homecoming, with field hockey, football, hockey, women's soccer and both swimming and diving teams at home between Fri., Oct. 20 and Sun., Oct. 22. Additionally, those in town for 2017 Homecoming a day early have the opportunity to glimpse the 2017-18 men's and women's basketball teams at the Naismith Hall of Fame in Springfield.

Thurs., Oct. 19 ⢠UMass Basketball Naismith Hall of Fame Showcase ⢠Springfield, Mass. ⢠6 PM ā 7:30 PM
Offering early-arrivers to 2017 Homecoming the first look at the 2017-18 Minutemen and Minutewomen, the UMass Basketball Naismith Hall of Fame Showcase begins at 6 p.m. and packs a 3-point contest, game of H-O-R-S-E, slam dunk contest, autograph session and comments from head coaches Matt McCall and Tory Verdi in its 90-minute length.
Fri., Oct. 20 ⢠Field Hockey vs. Saint Joseph's ⢠Gladchuk Field Hockey Complex ⢠Amherst, Mass. ⢠3 p.m.
No. 23 nationally ranked Massachusetts battles No. 19 Saint Joseph's for Atlantic 10 supremacy and the top spot in the conference standings in a late-afternoon tilt. Both squads own 5-1 league records and the winner of the contest will take sole possession of first place into the final A-10 game of the season. Attendance is free and parking is available directly East of the facility in Lot 11.
Fri., Oct. 20 ⢠Hockey vs. Ohio State ⢠Mullins Center ⢠Amherst, Mass. ⢠7 p.m. ⢠Tickets
The Maroon and White look to improve upon their 3-1 start to the season against Big Ten contender Ohio State. Massachusetts enters the game riding a three-game win streak, with victories over AIC, Arizona State and Union. The contest is the Class of 2021 Game. All Class of 2021 attendees are encouraged to wear their class shirt. A limited number of long sleeve UMass shirts will be given out to student attendees. Admission is free for all undergraduate students.

Sat., Oct. 21⢠Football vs. Georgia Southern ⢠McGuirk Alumni Stadium ⢠3:30 p.m. ⢠Tickets
The Minutemen meet former FCS postseason foe Georgia Southern for the first time since 1999 with a 3:30 p.m. game at McGuirk Alumni Stadium. In addition to being Homecoming, UMass Athletics will recognize cancer survivor and Cancer Research Foundation Advisory Board member Nancy Kelleher (Class of '71) during the game and Kelleher will serve as the team's honorary captain. UMass Athletics will give away pink pom-poms and UMass football branded luggage tags at the stadium as well.
Tickets are available through 866-UMASS-TIX, at the Mullins Center Box Office (M ā F; 10 a.m. ā 6 p.m.) and via UMassAthletics.com. A purchasableĀ parking pass is required for all lots surrounding McGuirkĀ and can be attained online for $5 ahead of the game or $10 cash-only in-person on gameday. Lots open at 11:30 am.
Sat., Oct. 21 ⢠Hockey vs. Ohio State ⢠Mullins Center ⢠8 p.m. ⢠Tickets
UMass and Ohio State offer MinuteFans the chance to head from McGuirk Alumni Stadium after football straight to the Mullins Center for the second half of the hockey team's weekend homestand. Following the game, UMass Athletics will host Saturday Night Skate, sponsored by Texas Roadhouse, on the Mullins Center ice. Fans interested in lacing up a pair of skates and hitting the ice must sign up ahead of Saturday Night Skate at the UMass Athletics table located behind Section Z in the Mullins Center. Again, admission to hockey games is free of charge for undergraduate students.

Massachusetts will honor its senior class prior to taking the field against Yale on Sunday. The Minutewomen will honor Anne Dijkstra, Sarah Hawkshaw, Emily Hazard, Grace Horgan, Melanie Kreusch, Nicole Kuerzi, Haley Notarantonio, Shauna Rankin-Byrne, Mirra Stillman before the game ā a group that helped the Minutewomen to Atlantic 10 championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in each of the last two seasons.

Sun., Oct. 22 ⢠Women's Soccer vs. Dayton ⢠Rudd Field ⢠1 p.m.
The women's soccer team makes it to Minutewomen squads honoring their senior classes on Sunday as Ed Matz's squad takes to Rudd Field for the final time during the 2017 regular season. Honorees include Salma Anastasio, Fatou Barry, Cassidy Babin, Danielle Farano, Gabriela Kenyon and Natalie Perussault. Admission is free to all attendees.

Sun., Oct. 22 ⢠Women's Swimming & Diving vs. Vermont ⢠Joseph R. Rogers, Jr., Pool ⢠1 p.m.
The Minutewomen host their first home swim meet with the Vermont Catamounts visiting campus at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The Joseph R. Rogers, Jr., Pool is located in the Boyden Gym and admission is free to all attendees.

Men's swimming and diving looks to build upon a first place finish at the Colgate Invitational when the Minutemen bring NJIT to the Joseph R. Rogers, Jr., at 1 p.m., in conjunction with women's swimming and diving's meet with Vermont. It will also be the first chance to see the Minutemen on campus during the 2017-18 campaign. The Joseph R. Rogers, Jr., Pool is located in the Boyden Gym and admission is free to all attendees.
