Donte Gets To 1K
In need of 18 points to reach 1,000 for his career at the University of Massachusetts, Donte Clark poured in 27 against Rider and became the 50th member of the UMass Men's Basketball 1,000-Point Club. Clark reached 1,000 in his 76th career game (13.2 points per game career average) and became the first junior class member to eclipse quadruple digits since Chaz Williams did so in 2012-13.

Clark currently ranks 42nd all-time in UMass history for points scored with 1,040 entering play at George Mason.

Home Court Comforts
University of Massachusetts men's basketball is 8-2 at home in the Mullins Center this season, including four victories in as many games played in the building during the 2016 Gotham Classic. In those 10 contests, Donte Clark scored a team-best 16.6 points per game, while the rest of the team balanced scoring. Luwane Pipkins (9.8), Rashaan Holloway (9.6) and DeJon Jarreau (8.6) follow.

The Minutemen have shown a knack for sharing the ball in the Mullins Center to the tune of 184 assists (18.4 per game) against only 135 turnovers (13.5), a 1.36 assist-to-turnover ratio. Conversely, opponents are forced into 17.4 turnovers on average (174) with only 13.1 assists dished out in each contest (131) - a 0.75 assist-to-turnover ratio.

The losses in the group came on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by UCF and the win by St. Bonaventure. In order, the UMass triumphs include outcomes against UMass Lowell, Temple, Harvard, Wagner, Pacific, North Carolina A&T, Kennesaw State and Rider.

Just Point To The Hoop And Say, Go Holloway Up
Rashaan Holloway ranks second in the Atlantic 10 with his 63.1 field goal percentage (53-of-89) through games on Mon. Jan. 4. Holloway does not have enough makes per game (5.0) to qualify for the NCAA rankings. His percentage would place him 14th overall in the nation with the prerequisite number of made baskets per game played. Holloway is shooting 68.8 percent in his last four games (22-32; 5.5-8.0).

Minutemen Sweep 2016 Gotham Classic
University of Massachusetts men's basketball swept the 2016 Gotham Classic with a perfect 4-0 mark in the tournament. The Minutemen, who hosted all four games, downed Pacific, 72-48; North Carolina A&T, 65-59; Kennesaw State, 95-77 and Rider, 78-67 in succession for the crown.

Donte Clark led the way with 18.0 points per game while Luwane Pipkins averaged 12.3 per game. Clark was efficient from everywhere on the court and went 26-of-50 overall (.520), 7-for-16 on 3-pointers (.438) and 13-of-16 at the foul line (.813).

It is the first tournament win for the Minutemen since they took the top spot at the 2013 Charleston Classic with wins over Nebraska, 96-90; No. 19 New Mexico, 81-65 and Clemson, 62-56.

Quick With The Dish
University of Massachusetts men's basketball ranks tied for 28th in the nation in assists per game with an average of 17.3 dished out per contest as of play on Mon., Jan. 2. It ranks first among Atlantic 10 teams by more than an assist per game (Davidson, 16.0, tied-65th). The Minutemen do not rely on one distribution leader as four Minutemen average 2.5 or more assists per game: DeJon Jarreau (4.5), Donte Clark (3.6), Luwane Pipkins (3.2) and C.J. Anderson (2.6).

20-Pointers Becoming A Routine
Six members of the University of Massachusetts program have at least one outing with 20 or more points through the opening 12 games played. Those six Minutemen include Donte Clark (29 vs. Harvard; 22 vs. North Carolina A&T, 27 vs. Rider), Tyrn Flowers (20 vs. UCF), Rashaan Holloway (21 vs. UMass Lowell; 21 at Providence), DeJon Jarreau (25 at Ole Miss), Zach Lewis (20 at Ole Miss) and Luwane Pipkins (20 at Providence, 27 vs. Kennesaw State).

Massachusetts is one of only two teams in the country with six or more players who recored at least one 20-point game in 2016-17, joined by Memphis.

Nearly Double-Doubles
Four Minutemen have fallen shy of their first career double-double this season, including Chris Baldwin, Donte Clark, Tyrn Flowers and Rashaan Holloway. All but Baldwin reached double-figures in the scoring column and ended their respective game at nine rebounds apiece. Baldwin had nine rebounds and as many points.

Flowers Blossoms Into 3-Point Threat
Freshman forward Tyrn Flowers connected on six 3-point field goals against UCF, a personal best and - at the time - the most by a Minuteman since Jabarie Hinds had seven in the 108-99 overtime win at Duquesne on Feb. 14, 2016. Flowers has at least one made 3-point field goal in nine of the 14 games played this season. He is 19-of-55 overall this season (34.5 percent) on 3-pointers.

Anderson Named A NABC Good Works Team Nominee
C.J. Anderson was selected as a nominee for the 2017 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Good Works Team, as announced by the NABC on Wed., Nov. 30. Anderson is one of 181 men's basketball student-athletes from the NCAA Divisions I, II, II and NAIA levels chosen as a nominee.

The Allstate NABC and WBCA Good Works Teams recognize players at all levels of college basketball whose charitable involvement and altruistic acts stand out amongst all other student-athletes participating in the sport. From leading an initiative to help end the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, to co-founding a non-profit with the mission to improve literacy rates across the country, the players nominated embody the true spirit of teamwork and giving back.
