Breneman Tabbed as Mackey Award Semifinalist

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts redshirt junior Adam Breneman has been named a semifinalist for the 2016 John Mackey Award, presented annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end, it was announced on Monday.
Breneman, a native of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, totals 58 receptions for 699 yards and seven touchdowns through 10 games in 2016. Among FBS tight ends, he ranks top three in receptions, receptions yards per game, receiving yards, receiving yards per game and touchdowns.
Breneman scored his seventh touchdown of the season at Troy on Nov. 5, setting the Massachusetts single-season school record for receiving touchdowns by a tight end. In UMass' last four games (Louisiana Tech, South Carolina, Wagner and Troy), he has recorded 30 catches for 403 yards and five touchdowns.

The announcement of the three 2016 John Mackey Award finalists is scheduled for Nov. 22. The 2016 recipient will be announced on Dec. 7 and presented live on Dec. 8 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show (6 p.m. ET, ESPNU).
