Cross Country - 12/9/2009 UMass Fall Scholar Athletes Go To Zan, JohnsonUMass cross country runners Shiyi Zan and Kevin Johnson have been named the UMass Fall Scholar Athletes, it was announced on Wednesday. Zan and Johnson were honored for their ability to balance their highly successful academic pursuits while still competing at a high level in their respective sports. MORE W. Cross Country - 11/17/2009 Johnson, Zan Named To XC A-10 Academic All-Conference TeamJunior Kevin Johnson and redshirt junior Shiyi Zan were each named to the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Academic All-Conference Team Tuesday afternoon. Johnson and Zan were selected to the team by the A-10 Conference's sports information directors. The voting process was based on academic achievement and athletic merit. MORE W. Cross Country - 11/12/2009 NCAA Regional Qualifier On Horizon For WXCThe UMass women's cross country team will head to Boston, Mass. this Saturday to compete in the NCAA Regional Qualifier. The Minutewomen are coming off of a third place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championships, and are looking to build upon their recent success. Last year the squad took 22nd place at the NCAA Qualifier and improving upon this finish seems like a very distinct possibility. MORE W. Cross Country - 11/2/2009 Trio Named UMass Athletes Of The WeekCross country runners Courtney Baldwin and Kevin Johnson and tennis sophomore Magdalena Ploch were named UMass Tri-Athletes of the Week on Monday. Baldwin and Johnson posted outstanding performances at the Atlantic 10 Championships, while Ploch had an impressive showing at the ITA Regional Championships. MORE W. Cross Country - 10/31/2009 Women's XC Grabs Third Place At A-10sThe UMass women's cross country team took third place out of 14 teams at the Atlantic 10 Championship meet this Saturday. Led by A-10 Rookie of the Year Courtney Baldwin, the Minutewomen had their best performance since 2000 at the conference meet. Dayton won the Atlantic 10 Championship title with 72 points, followed by Charlotte with 98 points, and UMass with 109 points. MORE![]() |
