Christine Davis Named A-10 Performer Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Following the Minutewomen's stellar performance at the CCSU Mini-Meet UMass newcomer Christine Davis was recognized as the Atlantic 10 Conference Performer of the Week. Davis paced UMass for the first time in her career in the team's first place performance as they tied Providence with 78 points in a race including 16 teams. Providence is ranked as the best team in the country however they did not rest all of their best runners.
At the start of competition the best time recorded on the CCSU Mini-Meet course was 10:03, a time set last season. Davis finished just 12-seconds short of the course record with her third place finish overall and a time of 10-minutes, 15-seconds. The Acton, Mass. native was 1-of-137 runners competing on the 3K course.
This is Davis' first time receiving an honor from the A-10 and will look to continue her success this weekend at the conference championship. So far this season Davis has not finished less than fourth on the team and has a pair of second place finishes and a third place performance for the Minutewomen.
Davis and the Minutewomen will compete at the Atlantic 10 Championship Saturday at 10 a.m. in Richmond, Va. where they were predicted to finish eighth in this season's preseason poll.
