Paul Short Next On The Slate For Women's Cross
Oct. 4, 2013
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After running in the Coast-To-Coast Battle in Beantown last week the Minutewomen will compete in the Paul Short Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The competition in Bethlehem, Pa. will start at 11:45 A.M. and is the site of yet another very difficult race for UMass. In the past there has been as many as 45 teams at the Paul Short Invitational, and there has always been top-notch competition.
Coach LaFeniere's team enters the weekend a little banged up, planning on running without two of its coveted freshmen. Natalie Mako missed last weeks race in Boston while Emily Ruggiero missed both meets this season. However Coach LaFreniere expects to be back to full strength next week at the New England Championship.
Last weekend the Minutewomen were led by junior harrier Rachel Hilliard for the second time in two meets this year. With Mako and Ruggiero out, Christine Davis stepped up and finished second for UMass just ahead of Alexandra Purdue-Smithe. Rounding out the top four was sophomore Carly Zinner.
