Women's Cross Country Schedule Announced For 2012

Amherst, Mass. - August is here and the start of the women's cross country 2012-13 campaign is just around the corner. This season the team will compete in seven meets and have the opportunity to qualify and extend their season further into November with the NCAA Championships.

The Minutewomen will kick off the year from the comforts of their own home with the UMass Invite marking the start of the 2012 season on September 8. The cross country team will play host the following week as well on September 15 in the Minuteman Invitational.

Julie LaFreniere's team will begin their road trip on September 28 at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University. The next week the women will venture back to western Massachusetts when they compete in the New England Championships at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass. on October 7.

On October 12 the Minutewomen will compete in their final meet before the Atlantic 10 Championships when they travel to Warwick, R.I. for the Rothenberg Race. The A-10 Championships will be held on October 27 in Philadelphia, Pa. The following week the women will try to extend their season at the NCAA New England Regional Championships at Hamonesset Park in Madison, Conn. on November 9.

Pending how well the women's cross country squad competes in the regional championships their season could be over or advance one more week where they would compete in the NCAA Championships in Louisville, Ky. on November 17.
