WXC Season Comes To An End At Regionals

BRONX, N.Y. - In a field of 37 teams competing in the 2013 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship the Minutewomen finished 25th overall in Bronx, N.Y. The finish does not qualify them for the NCAA Championship in Indiana, marking the end of their 2013 season. Rachel Hilliard once again led the Minutewomen. This is the junior's sixth meet she has been the first of UMass' runners to cross the finish line in seven meets.
Hilliard finished 82nd overall with a time of 22-minutes, 4-seconds in a field of 254 runners and was the only Minutewoman to finish in the top 100. The freshman Christine Davis was the second to cross the finish line for UMass at 22-minutes, 30.1-seconds. Davis was the 116th harrier to complete the 6k race.
Alexandra Purdue-Smithe completed her breakout season with a 155th place finish and a time of 22-minutes, 55.7-seconds. She was trailed by a close finishing trio of Sarah Barrett, Carly Zinner and Molly McMahon. In Barrett's final cross country race as a UMass athlete she placed 181st finishing the course in 23-minutes, 28-seconds.
Zinner and McMahon finished just seven seconds apart in 185th and 188th place. Zinner completed the course in 23-minutes, 30.4-seconds while McMahon finished in 23-minutes 37.5-seconds. Finishing off the top seven for Julie LaFreniere's squad was Katie Powers. The junior finished in 214th place with a time of 24-minutes, 27.8-seconds.
