Men's, Women's Cross Country Finishes 21st At NCAA Northeast Regional

BRONX, N.Y. - Freshman Christina Derosa (Sound Beach, N.Y.) and junior Ryan Corbett (East Longmeadow, Mass.) lead the Massachusetts men's and women's cross country teams to 21st-place finishes at the NCAA Northeast Regional on Saturday at Van Cortland Park.
DeRosa, who led UMass in every race this season, finished her freshman season with a 63rd-place finish overall (22:45.3) among 230 total student-athletes.
Behind DeRosa, seniors Amanda Dahlberg (Gardner, Mass.) and Alexis Anzelone (Westfield, N.J.) finished 117th and 129th, respectively. Dahlberg competed the course in 23-minutes, 33.4-seconds, while Anzelone posted a time of 23-minutes, 41.8-seconds.
In men's action, Corbett finished 62nd overall among 233 competitors with his time of 32-minutes, 40.7-seconds. He finishes the 2004 season as the top runner for the men leading the Minutemen in every race but one.
Behind Corbett, seniors Matt Clark (Worcester, Mass.) and Andrew McCarron (Lunenburg, Mass.) finished their UMass careers with 120th-place and 126th-place finishes, respectively. Clark posted a time of 33:42.7, while McCarron ran 33:50.8 to round out the UM top-three.
Earlier this week, both Clark and McCarron earned Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference honors.
Providence College won both the men's and women's team titles. The Minutewomen finished 21st of 35 teams, while the Minutemen were 21st of 37 teams.
