Men's Cross Country Takes Eighth, Women Take 16th At New England Championships

AMHERST, Mass. - The men's cross country team took eighth while the women's team took 16th at the New England Championships in Boston, Mass. this weekend. Finishing first for the men's team was sophomore Jesse Regnier (Hampden, Mass.) who took 13th overall. The women were led by junior Christina Derosa (Sound Beach, N.Y.) who took 32nd overall.
Regnier finished first for the Minutemen for the second time this season. Regnier was followed by Nils Fischer (Stow, Mass.), Ryan Durkin (Andover, Mass.), Nicolai Naranjo (Essex Fells, N.J.) and Daniel Moriarty (North Kingstown, R.I.) who finished 30th, 68th, 74th and 79th, respectively. The eighth place finish for the Minutemen is a significant improvement on their 16th place finish of a year ago.
For the women's team, junior Christina Derosa had a strong performance finishing 32nd overall. Rounding out the top five for the Minutewomen were Cuisle Kierans (Newbury, Mass.), Taryn Trapp (Nampa, Idaho), Eillis Kierans (Newbury, Mass.) and Ashley Davidson (Natick, Mass.) who finished 100th, 110th, 115th and 174th, repectively. The 16th place finish was a slight improvement on their 17th place finish from a year ago.
The men and women both return to action this Saturday at the Albany Invitational in Albany, N.Y. The men start at 10:00 a.m. while the women begin at 11:00 a.m.
