Cross Country Races At The Meet Of Champions

The University of Massachusetts men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2001 Paddy Doyle Meet of Champions at Van Cordlant Park in Bronx, N.Y., this afternoon. The women's team placed 13th out of a field of 22 teams. The men's team placed 15th out of a field of 25 teams.
Leading the way for the Minutewomen was senior Kristin Cisowski (Salem, N.H.), who finished 41st with a time of 22:04. Freshman Denise DiPaolo (North Bregen, N.J.) placed 152nd with a time of 23:49. Next for UMass was junior Julie McGee (Needham, Mass.) with a time of 24:13, which was good for 169th place. Senior Katherine Blais (Andover, Mass.) placed 171st, completing the course in a time of 24:14.
Boston College won the women's meet with a team score of 31 points.
Leading the way for the Minutemen was senior Kevin Curtin (Chelmsford, Mass.), who finished 69th with a time of 26:16. Senior Ryan Corbett (Highland, N.Y.) finished 87th with a time of 26:27. Next for UMass were junior David Hantman (Cambridge, Mass.), who placed 119th with a time of 26:49. Junior Ed Breen (Woburn, Mass.) placed 154th, completing the course in a time of 27:12.
Dartmouth won the men's meet with a team score of 81 points.
The men's and women's teams return to action on Oct. 12, when they compete in the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston. The women's meet is slated to begin at noon, and the men's meet at 1:30.
