Women's Cross Country Races at Boston College

BOSTON, Mass. -
The University of Massachusetts women's cross country team placed seventh at the 5,000-meter Franklin Park Course in Boston this afternoon. Opponents included Boston College, Providence, Harvard, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Northeastern.
Leading the way for the Minutewomen was senior Kristin Cisowski (Salem, N.H.), who finished 17th with a time of 18:08. Senior Sarah Thoms (Gloucester, Mass.) placed 39th with a time of 19:40. Next for UMass was freshman Denise DiPaolo (North Bergen, N.J.) with a time of 19:54, which was good for 46th place. Junior Elizabeth Mitchell (Aspen, Colo.) placed 50th, completing the course in a time of 20:07.
Providence won the meet with a team score of 29, followed by Boston College with 34 points, Harvard with 97 points, Rhode Island with 106 points, Connecticut with 126 points, New Hamphsire with 147, Massachusetts with 190 and Northeastern with 251 points.
The women's cross country team returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y. when they compete in the Meet of Champions. The meet is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m.
