From seniors to freshman and their strong nucleus of sophomores the UMass women's cross country team will need a complete team effort this week at the A-10 Championships.
With most of the Minutewomen's top runners getting rest this week UMass places 26th of 37 in the New England Championships.
Julie LaFreniere and the women's cross country squad will open up the 2012 season from the comforts of their own home on Saturday, September 8.
Karen Roa was added to the A-10 All-Conference team on Saturday.
As a junior in 2012: Finished the A-10 Championships eighth for UMass in 20:12.1 (10/27) ... Placed eighth for UMass and crossed the finish line at 19:52.80 and finished 30th overall in the Rothenberg Race (10/19) ... Finished the New England Championships with her best time of the season with a time of 19:24.39, placing third for the Minutewomen (10/7) ... Placed eighth for the team, crossing the finish line at 23:41 in the Paul Short Invitational (9/28) ... finished sixth for the Minutewomen and 39th overall in the Minuteman Invitational, crossing the finish line at 19:53.96 (9/15) ... Crossed the finish line at 20:44.28 in the season opening UMass Inviatational, placed eighth for the team and 11th overall (9/8).
As a sophomore in 2011: Cross Country: Competed in five meets ... Placed seventh on the team and 27th overall at the Rothenberg Race (10/14) with a time of 20:03.9 ... Finished 45th overall and seventh for UMass at the Minuteman Invite (9/30) clocking in at 19:47.71.
As a freshman in 2010: Cross Country: Finished in 73rd with a time of 21:03 at the UMass Home Meet (9/18)...Crossed at 21:13 and placed 106th at the B.C. Invite (9/11).
