The UMass women's track and field team finished off the weekend at the ECAC Championship with two athletes competing to finish 37th of 58 teams. Lisa Wilson (Holden, Mass.) highlighted the day, ranking eighth of 23 athletes in the shot put with a mark of 44-11.50 to score one point for the Minutewomen. Stephanie Aguguo (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was the only other athlete to compete on the day, finishing 23rd in the triple jump with a distance of 37-08.50. (more)
The UMass men's and women's track and field teams competed at the IC4A and ECAC Championships this weekend at Princeton University in N.J. The Minutewomen accumulated five points, while the Minutemen did not score. The top performance of the day, and all five points, came from redshirt senior Kristen Bakanowski (Northboro, Mass.), who tied her own school record with a pole vault of 12-07.50, ranking fourth at the meet. With that season-best mark, Bakanowski also qualifies for the NCAA East Regionals, joining teammate Lisa Wilson, which will take place on May 29 in Greensboro, N.C. (more)

The UMass women's track and field team competed at the New England Championship this weekend to a fourth place finish. Boston College won with 87 points, followed by New Hampshire (79.5), Northeastern (57.5) and the Minutewomen with 55. The maroon and white just edged Rhode Island, who scored 49.5 for fifth place. The top performance of the weekend came from junior Lisa Wilson who finished first in the discus with a throw of 151-00. Wilson finished second in the shot with a throw of 45-00.25. That mark replaced her own school record, set earlier this season at the Larry Ellis Invitational. On day one, Wilson ranked sixth in the hammer with a season-best throw of 174-50. The mark shattered the previous school record of 169-3 set by Shana Michael in 1998.
