Oliveri And Stoyle Picked As Co-UMass Athletes Of The Week
March 3, 2014
AMHERST, Mass. - Massachusetts men's lacrosse redshirt-sophomore Zach Oliveri and women's track and field junior Becky Stoyle were tabbed the UMass Co-Athletes of the Week by the sports luncheon committee on Monday afternoon. The duo will be recognized for their performances on Wednesday, March 5 in the Massachusetts Room of the Mullins Center beginning at Noon.
Oliveri made 10 saves with only one goal allowed as the Minutemen defeated Brown, 15-2 on the road to improve to 4-0 on the season. It marks the fewest goals Oliveri has allowed in a game in his career. Stoyle claimed her third consecutive New England Championship and her second consecutive Indoor New England Championship in the triple jump with a leap measuring 42-feet, 0.25-inches.
Guest speakers for the luncheon, which is open to the public, will include women's lacrosse head coach Angela McMahon as well as men's track and field head coach Ken O'Brien and senior sprinter/hurdler Nick Otis. The salad-to-dessert buffet costs attendees $13 per person while parking is free in the lot located directly West of the Mullins Center.
