Stoyle Claims Consecutive UMass Co-Athlete Of The Week Award

AMHERST, Mass. - In consecutive weeks, UMass track and field's Becky Stoyle has received UMass Co-Athlete of the Week honors for her performance in the triple jump. This week the she shares the honor with hockey's Michael Pereira.
Saturday at the URI Coaches Invite the Pembroke, Mass. native leaped the best distance in program history for the indoor triple jump with a mark of 40-feet, 7.75-inches. Her performance was good enough for first place in the meet and assisted in the team's second place finish.
The sophomore's mark surpassed Janey Meeks' mark of 40-feet, 4-inches by 3.75-inches. Meeks held the record since 1995. Stoyle's leap is also the best distance an A-10 athlete has set in the 2013 indoor season by 7.75-inches. The mark is also just a half-inch shy of last year's A-10 championship mark and 1.25-inch shy of the all-time A-10 Conference Championship record.
Stoyle and the women's track and field squad close out the indoor regular season this Friday at the Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass. at 2:30 P.M.
