WESTFIELD, Mass. - The women's track team sits in eighth place after day one of competition at the New England Championship thanks to two scoring performances landing on the podium. Becky Stoyle took third place in the long jump while Kelsey Crawford took third in the javelin.

Stoyle continued her championship success in the long jump with a bronze medal worthy jump of 18-feet, 1.5-inches. Stoyle has had success in the past however this is her first time medaling in the event. On Saturday she will strive for her fourth straight New England Championship in the triple jump.

In the javelin, Crawford grabbed the third place medal with a throw distancing 134-feet, 8-inches. The throw earned her the third best distance thrown in UMass history and it was also her first time medaling in the event. On Saturday, Crawford is favored to score in the shot put as well.

In the 110 meter hurdles Meghan Patrolia and Brittany Green each qualified for the finals. Patrolia placed seventh crossing the finish line in 14.86-seconds and Green finished eighth in 14.87-seconds.

The Minutewomen continue competition begins at 10:00 AM on Saturday in Westfield, Mass.
