Men's and Women's Track and Field Compete at New England Championships

DEDHAM, Mass. - The men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Solomon Track in the New England Championships Friday and Saturday, May 7-8 The women scored 33 points, good for a 10th-place finish and the men finished 11th with 26 points. Senior Shannon Jackson (Bridgewater, Mass.) finished third overall in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.32. Junior Christina Huff (Springfield, Mass.) ran a 12.24 in the 100-meter dash, good for a fourth place finish. Senior Kate Markopoulos (Porter Corner, N.Y) finished fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 10:55.90. Senior Chante Soares (New Bedford, Mass) marked a 17' 11' in the long jump, good for a third-place finish. Junior Jen Iasiello (Barrington, R.I) threw a 160' 8" in the hammer throw, earning her a fifth-place finish. Junior Joe McCormack (Wrentham, Mass.) placed second in the 100-meter dash with his time of 10.87. Junior Andrew McCarron (Lunenberg, Mass.) earned a seventh-place finish in the 10,000-meter run with his time of 33:05.01. Junior Henry Smith (Ellington, Conn.) marked a 45' 1" in the triple jump, good for a sixth-place finish. Junior Mike Carr (Rehoboth, Mass.) finished ninth in the javelin with a throw of 187 8".
The men and women will be back in action next on Saturday and Sunday, May 15-16 as they head to New Haven, Conn. to compete in the IC4A and ECAC Championships.
