Track and Field Competes at SCSU Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The University of Massachusetts women's and men's track and field team competed in the SCSU Invitational in New Haven, Conn., Saturday April 3. The women's squad finished third with 91 points. The men finished in fifth-place with 47.5 points.
Junior Christina Huff (Springfield, Mass.) won the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.39 and also placed second in the 200-meter dash, clocking a time of 26.03. Senior Kishana Hudson (Deer Park, N.Y.) ran a 12.87 in the 100-meter dash, good for a third-place finish. Hudson also finished 10th in the 200-meter dash with a 27.34. Senior Shannon Jackson (Bridgewater, Mass.) placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a 15.62 and fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a 1:06.10. Freshman Troyanah Evans (Cambridge, Mass.) placed seventh in the 200-meter dash and third in the long jump with a mark of 17' 1-1/2". Freshman Merissa Oliveira (New Bedford, Mass.) finished third in the shot put with a throw of 38' 1-1/4" and fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 121' 8".
Junior Jon Korhonen (Gardner, Mass.) earned a second-place finish in the 5,000-meter with his time of 15:08.32. Junior Dave McMenamy (Falmouth, Mass.) placed fourht in the 800-meter with a time of 1:58.08, while teammate John Jacobson (Taunton, Mass.) finished in fifth place, clocking a time of 1:58.98. Senior John O'Neil (North Reading, Mass.) placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a clocking of 55.47. Junior Matt Clark (Worcester, Mass.) ran the 1,500-meter in a time of 4:04.10, good for a fifth-place finish. Junior Mike Antonio (Westboro, Mass.) marked a 168' 3" in the javelin, earning a second-place finish.
The Minutewomen will be back in action next on Saturday, April 10 when they compete against Brown, Northeastern, URI and SCSU in Providence, R.I. The Minutemen will also be in action Saturday April 10 when they compete in the Lou Onesty Invitational in Charlottesville, V.A.
