BOSTON, Mass. - In the final day of competition at the ECAC Championship in Boston, Mass. the women's track and field team recorded two top five times in program history with a scoring performance in the 4x800 meter relay. The Minutewomen finished tied for 26 place out of a total 46 teams that scored in the championship meet.

The 4x800 meter relay team followed up their record breaking performance in the preliminaries on Saturday with the sole scoring performance of the day in the finals on Sunday. Courtney Neves, Krista Webb, Katie Powers and Heather MacLean crossed the finish line at the 8-minute, 55.47-second mark for a fourth place finish.

The time places the fourth place team second on the all-time program list just behind the record time Neves, Rachel Hilliard, Powers and MacLean set on the first day of the championship meet. Prior to this weekend Kerry Aker, Lennice Johnson, Kelly Liljeblad and Rebecca Johnson held the UMass record in the indoor 4x800 meter relay, they now have the third best time in UMass history with a time of 9-minutes, 1.71-seconds.

After assisting with the UMass all-time best performance in the 4x800 meter relay a day ago, Hilliard climbed from fifth to fourth on the UMass all-time list in the 3,000 meter run. The Hookstown, Pa. native finished 18 out of a total 41 competitors crossing the finish line with a time of 9-minutes, 47.45-seconds. The time bumps UMass Hall of Famer Rebecca Donaghue's time of 9-minutes, 49.04-seconds to fifth all-time in UMass history.

Falling just short of scoring for UMass was Courtney Kromko and Kelsey Crawford. Kromko placed ninth in the long jump with a leap measuring 18-feet, 2.5-inches. Crawford threw 44-feet, 1.25-inches in the shot put for an 11 place finish.

With the final chapter of the 2014 indoor season complete, the Minutewomen now eye the start of the outdoor season. This year UMass begins its outdoor campaign at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. on March 28 and 29 at 11:00 and 9:00 AM.
