Mary Serdakowski enters her second season as an assistant coach for the Minutewomen after competing in the 2006-07 seasons while in her second year at UMass for graduate school. While she finishes her masters degree, Serdakowski will spend time working with the women's track and field team as well.
The 2006 Harvard graduate and former Ivy League hurdle champion had a strong final season with the Maroon & White. During the outdoor season, she posted the fourth fastest time in school history in the 110 meter hurdles (14.46 seconds) to finish third at the Atlantic 10 Championship meet. During the year, she led the Minutewomen in both the 110 and 400 meter hurdles. She also set the UMass Track Facility record in the 110 meter hurdles (14.67 seconds) at the UMass Nine-Way Meet on April 28, 2007.
Serdakowski is a graduate of Chariho Regional High school where she holds the Rhode Island State records in the 45m hurdles, 55m hurdles, 60m hurdles and 100m hurdles with times of 7.01s, 8.21s, 8.90s, and 14.68s respectively. She was the New England champion in the 100m hurdles during her sophomore and senior years and in the 55m hurdles her junior and senior years and the Rhode Island State champion all four years of high school in the 45m hurdles, champion in the 100m hurdles her sophomore, junior and senior year. She was also the Rhode Island State champion in the 300m hurdles her junior and senior year as well as 4x100 relay her junior year and 45m dash her senior year. She earned All-state selections during her sophomore, junior and senior years and was named RIAAA Female Scholar Athlete of the Year her senior year.
A two-time 60-meter hurdle indoor champion (2006, 2003) at the Ivy League Heptagonals, Serdakowski is doing her graduate work at UMass in environmental engineering.
