2005-06: At the Northeastern Invitational (12/3) she finished 29th (28.35) in the 200 meters and 15th (9.41) in the 55 meter hurdles preliminaries... finished second (9.70) in the 55 meter hurdles at the Boston University Quad Meet (1/18)... at the URI Sorlein Invitational (1/20) she came in 11th (9.81) during the preliminaries in the 55 meter hurdles... also during the preliminaries at the Rhode Island Iinvitational (2/4) she finished eighth (9.60) in the 55 meter hurdles...

Before UMass: A 2005 graduate of Chicopee High School where she was a two-time Western Massachusetts champion in the 55-meter hurdles (2003, 2005) ... four-year captain of Mary Ann Goff's squad where she was awarded eight letters ... a four-time All-Western Mass Athlete ... holds the school record in the 55-meter hurdles (8.8 seconds) and was a member of the 4x100 and 4x200 school record holding relay squads ... also played volleyball for two seasons ... was an honor student.

Personal: Shavonne Santiago ... born June 2, 1987 in Springfield, Mass. ... daughter of Raphael Santiago and Ann Marie Correa ... has six siblings: Angela (twin sister), Jeremy McGarry, Tatyana Correa, Brittany and Bethany Santiago (twins) and Nathan Correa ... intends to major in exercise science at UMass ... is a member of the Army National Guard and completed Basic Combat Training with her twin sister Angela, also her college roommate, the summer before her freshman year.
