  • Minutewomen To Host Fall Fundraiser Clinic On Sept. 20

AMHERST, Mass. - Fresh off another outstanding season, the UMass Women's Tennis team has learned that it was named 2008 International Tennis Association (ITA) Academic All Americans. The honor goes to any team who accumulate a team grade point average of 3.2 or higher. Along with the team recognition, five individual athletes earned honors as well with Kaitlyn Carpenter, Laura Danai, Stephanie Gimenez, Maude Lecluyse, and Masha Pozar recording a 3.4 GPA or above. It marked the team's 10th-consecutive season of earning the prestigious ITA award.

"We are proud of the team's effort and accomplishment." Head Coach Judy Dixon said. "As one of our stated team goals, our academic success remains a priority."

Heading into the 2008-09 campaign, UMass looks to build on its sixth-consecutive A-10 semifinal appearance. The Minutewomen open up the fall season on Sept. 26 at the Eastern Collegiate Invitational. The sole dual match of the fall comes on Wednesday, Oct. 1 when UMass travels to Storrs, Conn. to play the UConn Huskies.
