AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass women's tennis team announced its 2013-14 schedule on Wednesday, August 28. The Minutewomen will host two matches in the fall season and seven in the spring under the direction of head coach Judy Dixon, who is in her 22nd season with UMass.

The team will open the year on Sept. 20-22 at the Brown Invitation in Providence, R.I., and will return home to host its first home match on Sept. 28 against Providence College.

The following week, the Minutewomen will host the University of Connecticut on Oct. 3 before traveling to Harvard for the ITA Northeast Regionals on Oct. 17-21.

The team will close its fall schedule at the Big Green Invitational from Nov. 1-3, hosted at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H.

UMass returns to action with back-to-back indoor matches at Ivy League opponents. The team faces off against Brown on Jan. 31 and travels to Boston, Mass., the following day for a meeting with Harvard on Feb. 1.

The Maroon and White then hosts four of its next five matches at home, beginning with Bryant University on Feb. 8 and Long Island University on Feb. 9. The following weekend, the Minutewomen face a busy schedule with three matches in as many days. The team hosts its third home match on Feb. 14 against Army, and travels to Southern University on Feb. 15 before returning to Amherst, Mass., on Feb. 16 for a contest against Boston College.

On Feb. 26, the Minutewomen travel to Hanover, N.H., for a second time to face off against Dartmouth following the Big Green Invitational hosted earlier in the fall season.

The Minutewomen play in their first conference matches when they travel to Fordham on Feb. 28 and George Washington on March 1. A week later, the team heads back to New York for an out-of-conference match-up against Columbia on Feb. 8.

During spring break (March 14-21) UMass travels to Charlestown, S.C., for a week of matches against Georgia Southern, the College of Charleston and Tulane.

UMass kicks off the month of April at Quinnipiac on April 2 and heads home to host two more matches. On April 4, the Minutewomen face their third Atlantic 10 Conference opponent, Saint Joseph's, then host Boston University the following day.

Dixon's squad hits the road for its final away contents on April 10 and 12, when they play Fairleigh Dickinson and Sacred Heart.

The regular season concludes with Senior Day on April 19, when UMass will host Rhode Island. The Atlantic 10 Championships, set in Cincinnati, Ohio, will follow on April 24-27.

Last season, the Minutewomen finished the year with a 16-6 overall record, including a 5-1 mark in conference and a 6-0 finish at home. The team won six of its final seven matches, as well as its final four of the regular season. UMass recorded 15-or-more wins for the third consecutive season, a first in program history.

The 2013-2014 team is composed of seasoned upperclassmen and talented rookies, ensuring that the Minutewomen will continue to build upon their momentum established in the previous season.
